Mayweather vs. Ortiz: Why Victory Ortiz Has the Upper Hand Against Money

Floyd Mayweather Meets Victor Ortiz in Las Vegas on Saturday, September 17th

Floyd Mayweather is without a doubt the favorite to win Victor Ortiz's WBC Welterweight title this weekend, but that doesn't guarantee a victory for Money.

Victor Ortiz is young, powerful, bigger, and quite experienced for his age. At just 24 years of age, he has taken part in 33 total fights, just 11 less than the veteran Mayweather.

He has won 29 of those fights, but struggled against some inferior opponents, including a recent fight against Lamont Peterson, which resulted in a majority draw.

On the other hand, Mayweather has just one knockout in the past five years, and has been winning fights by unanimous decision. He is a smart fighter, and is extremely patient, but he won't get a knockout victory against Ortiz.

The longer the fight goes, the more confidence Ortiz will build in the ring against Mayweather. Money will certainly come out fast and should be able to take the first couple rounds without much difficulty, however once Ortiz settles down, anything could happen.

Ortiz is extremely talented, and does have a lot of talent. If he brings his A-game, and Mayweather looks sloppy after taking a year and a half off, anything could happen.

Mayweather better be on his toes if he wants to win the WBC Welterweight title, if not, he may find himself suffering his first ever loss in the ring.
