NASCAR driver Jeremy Clements indefinitely suspended after racial remark

NASCAR Nationwide Series driver Jeremy Clements did just about the dumbest thing you could do? just when NASCAR was trying to introduce a new audience to the sport, Mr. Clements does his best to send them back to Civil War era.
MTV reporter Marty Beckerman was speaking Clements and a NASCAR official, when Clements used ?a phrase that used the n-word? in a conversation about driving and not in reference to another driver, according to report from USA Today.
On Wednesday, NASCAR indefinitely suspended Clements for the ?intolerable and insensitive remark? and violating its ?Code of Conduct.?
The question is, what exactly did Clements say? All we know is that it wasin reference to driving and somehow included the n-word.
Beckerman says the driver called him to apologize for the remark.

Haas, 35, in Wimbledon's 3rd round by beating Wang

Playing some of the best tennis of his career at age 35, Tommy Haas reached Wimbledon's third round for the first time since 2009, defeating 151st-ranked qualifier Jimmy Wang of Taiwan 6-3, 6-2, 7-5 Friday.

The 13th-seeded Haas never faced a break point and needed only 1 1/2 hours to advance to a match against Feliciano Lopez on Saturday.

Haas reached the Wimbledon semifinals four years ago but missed the grass-court tournament in 2010 because of a hip injury, one of a long series of health problems that sidelined him at various points.

The German lost in the first round at the All England Club in 2011 and 2012. This month, Haas became the oldest French Open quarterfinalist since 1971.

NBA Youngsters with Highest Ceilings Next Season

The NBA is a star-driven league, and when you take a step back and observe, it’s easy to see that there are a number of 25-and-unders with incredibly high ceilings.

No disrespect to those who have already made a name for themselves, but the game is constantly evolving. Kevin Durant, Russell Westbrook and James Harden all deserve praise, but the Paul Georges, Jrue Holidays and Damian Lillards of the league are clearly the next in line.

With the offseason in full swing and the draft behind us, it’s time to look into the future. We may not know which players become full-fledged stars, but we do know who has the potential to get there.

Could Del Zotto Be Traded This Weekend?

Craig Custance at ESPN Insider thinks there might be some trade activity during the draft this weekend and one of the players who could be on the move is Michael Del Zotto...

"Del Zotto has one year left on his bridge deal that comes with a cap hit of $2.55 million this season, and his price tag only goes up from here. Ryan McDonagh is going to get a big deal this summer and the Rangers also have Marc Staal and Dan Girardi as part of a talented defensive corps that is still relatively young. Del Zotto is a guy who may flourish under Alain Vigneault but with so many teams shopping for defense right now, he's a piece GM Glen Sather could use to fill holes elsewhere."

...if you're a reader of this blog, you know that I give Del Zotto a tough time. In fact, so much so he actually blocked me on Twitter. Having said that, I've also stated on numerous occasions that he's got the physical skills to be the Rangers power play point man for the next decade, ...

Wisconsin Football Preview: Our Staff Predictions

I hope you've enjoyed our journey through the land of cheese, beer, brats, and the Wisconsin Badgers! After a week of talk of the Badgers it's finally time to put up or shut up for our staff as we hand down our verdicts on what will happen in Madison this year.

So, drum roll please...... Here are our staff predictions for the 2013 Wisconsin Badgers:

Andy (Managing Editor):Wisconsin has one of the easier schedules in the Big Ten and that bodes well for a team that will need some time to work out any kinks in the system. However, this team is loaded with senior talent and is deep with experience, especially along the defensive front seven. It's hard to imagine Wisconsin not being a 9-10 win team at a minimum with the schedule and talent on this team. What may end up costing them a chance at the Big Ten title for the first time in the Championship game era is a Sept. 28th road date to Columbus against the fighting Urban Meyer's. That could be the Badgers only loss, but I c

Serena apologizes again for comments

Tennis star Serena Williams made headlines last week when comments she made in aRolling Stone piece about the Steubenville, Ohio rape case went viral. For those who missed it, here is the controversial excerpt that landed her in hot water with majority of the public.?Do you think it was fair, what they got? They did something stupid, but I don?t know. I?m not blaming the girl, but if you?re a 16-year-old and you?re drunk like that, your parents should teach you?don?t take drinks from other people. She?s 16, why was she that drunk where she doesn?t remember? It could have been much worse. She?s lucky. Obviously I don?t know, maybe she wasn?t a virgin, but she shouldn?t have put herself in that position, unless they slipped her something, then that?s different.? Williams issued an apology soon thereafter, however, her initial apology seemed to cast blame on the writer instead of taking responsibility. On Monday, Williams released a second and more heartfelt apology on her website

Lakers free agent Dwight Howard will decide team July 10

Source: Jeff Gross/Getty Images North America Only three days remain until the official start of free agency. Los Angeles Lakers general manager Mitch Kupchak has only one thing on his mind: Re-signing Dwight Howard. According to ESPN Los Angeles, Kupchak said he is ?optimistic? about Howard returning to the Lakers next season. ?I think I?m optimistic. I understand that there?s a possibility [Howard] won?t [re-sign], and I probably don?t have any more information than anybody in this room does. I?m aware of a lot of the stuff that?s flying back and forth, a lot of the rumors, so there?s a realistic possibility that he won?t be back. But I?m optimistic that he will.? This comes a day after a report from ESPN?s Chris Broussard that said there was ?very little chance? that Howard would return to the Lakers. Howard has already been receiving backlash from fans, but Kupchak thinks that will change. ?Kobe?s been back for seven or eight years now. What did people think about him?

Vonn: I'm not just Tiger's girlfriend

Poor Lindsey Vonn. Not only is the two-time Olympic medalist skier still on the rehab trail, trying to come back from that horrific knee injury sustained in February in time for the 2014 Sochi Games, but it seems that her personal life isn?t quite going as planned, either. Of course, Vonn has made news in the tabloids for months, first with speculation she was dating Tiger Woods, before the pair confirmed their relationship in March. Though there have been no reports (yet, anyway) of trouble between the celebrity-athlete couple, that doesn?t necessarily mean Vonn is comfortable with every aspect of the relationship. In fact, Vonn says she feels overlooked, even marginalized at times, according to a recent interview with The New York Times. ?I can be normal by myself; no one notices me,? Vonn said. ?But wherever he?s around, we?re living in a fishbowl. I didn?t quite know what I was getting myself into. It?s weird. But it?s just something I have to deal with. Twitter Reacts as David Stern Milks the Boos During Final NBA Draft

David Stern will go out amid a chorus of boos with one huge smile.

The NBA commissioner will soon walk to the podium to announce an NBA draft selection for the very last time.

Maybe it's just me, but the boos seem louder than they've been in the past, as if the fans understand this is their last moment to let Stern have it.

While the level of vitriol may be open to some conjecture, there is no doubt Stern is really enjoying this draft more than most, smiling and invigorating a rabid bunch in the stands.

Here he is basically telling fans to give him all they have:

I'm not the only one to notice, because all of Twitter is sounding off on a commissioner who seems so close to winking with each and every pick.

Stern continued to savor each and every boo bird blasting him from the cheap seats. He soaked boos up as if they were rays of sunshine on some future trip he might take in retirement.

In fact, I have never seen a man so happy to get booed.

Who said this draft was bereft of stars?

As of this writing, there were no trades and very few astonishing surprises outside of Anthony Bennett being taken first overall.

Well, in walked Stern with his smirk and long pauses that seemed to be a bull's eye for all the fans' boos. So far, the biggest star of the night has been Stern.

We hate to see you go, but damn, we love to see how you call it a career.

Keep the party going on Twitter:

Jagr won't return to Bruins

Maybe if I scored 20 goals in playoffs, but I was 20 short.? #Bruins ? DJ Bean (@DJ_Bean) June 26, 2013 Jagr will not return to Bruins. ? Fluto Shinzawa (@GlobeFluto) June 26, 2013 Jagr was acquired by the Bruins in a trade with the Dallas Stars around the trade deadline this past season, and it was pretty well known that the forward, who is set to become an unrestricted free agent, would only be a half-season rental. The 41-year old Jagr recorded nine points (2 goals, 7 assists) in 11 regular season games with the Bruins. He tallied 8 assists in the playoffs but did not score a goal. It will be interesting to see if Jagr signs elsewhere this offseason or decides to hang up his skates for good. Either way, at least we?ll always have this memory. Mark Sanchez is having fun with two hot chicks

Nobody gets hit harder with criticism in the NFL than New York Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez. But it is important to remember that he is a relatively handsome young man, that is, well, the New York Jets quarterback. That means he can surround himself with some nice women at times. Such is the case this summer when Sanchez was partying with some pretty ladies in the Napa Valley. One of the women that is in the video, which went viral earlier this afternoon, is Alana Kari. Deadspin described her as a ?SoCal-based socialite.? She posted it to Vine, and has since taken it down. Unfortunately for her, it was already grabbed by other sources. It shows her, along with another woman, having a buncha fun with Sanchez. It is believed this was taken either just before, or just after the Jets broke from their mandatory mini-camp. How Sanchez knows these ladies is unknown, but Kari has popped up on the Dirty.com in the past, which is probably best known for making a name for itself back in the d...

Re-Grading Montreal Canadiens' Last 5 First-Round Draft Picks

It’s quite telling that the Montreal Canadiens’ last five first-round picks have reached the NHL in one form or another. There have no doubt been hiccups for one or two, but, by and large, each still figures greatly into the team’s long-term plans…if they haven’t already made their mark, that is.

Here is a look back at the Habs last five first-round picks as well as how they rate in terms of their development up until now:

Kyle Busch's New $7.5M Mega Mansion

((HT: WCNC-TV))

Not bad to have a disposable $7.5-million or so, right...???

Kyle Busch bought a 13,000-square-foot home on Lake Norman (NC) last month for a Charlotte-area record $7.5 million...

Evidence below...

Local attorney Cliff Homesley, who is identified in the records as trustee of the private trust that owns the home, represented Busch in his 128-in-a-45 speeding case last year.

Homesley declined this week to say who bought the home. ?It?s confidential,? he said. ?I can?t verify anything.?

Of course, he can't...

The previous record for a sale price in the area was a little over $6.3-million in 2007.

New York Knicks Offseason Tracker: Latest Trade Rumors, Free Agency News

The New York Knicks enter the 2013 offseason with a lot of questions to address, most of which concern retaining their own players, rather than picking up somebody new.

With Amar'e Stoudemire constantly injured, Jason Kidd retired, and Marcus Camby slowly devolving into an amorphous blob on the end of the bench, New York has just five players under contract who they can rely on to be productive rotation players xt season.

That means they're going to have to address re-signing their own players before they get too deep into trying to trade players or pick up a free agent with the minimum mid-level exception.

The Knicks are going to have to decide which players are important to their build toward contention, and which would be overpaid if they ended up staying on the team.

Lucky for them, they've also got a draft pick to play with near the end of the first round, so they do have at least an asset or a young player coming in to help things out.

So who's coming and who's going? Let's take a look at the latest surrounding New York.

Nadal upset in first round

LONDON ?In one of Wimbledon?s greatest upsets, an ailing Rafael Nadal was knocked out in straight sets Monday by a player ranked 135th ? the Spaniard?s first loss in the opening round of a Grand Slam event. Steve Darcis of Belgium stunned the two-time champion 7-6 (4), 7-6 (8), 6-4. He ended Nadal?s 22-match winning streak and eliminated one of the Big Four of men?s tennis on the very first day of the grass-court Grand Slam. Nadal was sidelined for seven months with a left knee injury after losing in the second round of Wimbledon last year. He seemed to be struggling physically. He was unable to turn on the speed or use his legs to spring into his groundstrokes, limping and failing to run for some shots. Darcis was as surprised as everyone else with the result. ?Rafa Nadal didn?t play his best tennis [Monday],? the 29-year-old Belgian said. ?The first match on grass is always difficult. Is Kirk Ferentz on the hot seat?

The Iowa Football program has under performed ? to say the least ? over the last three seasons. Ferentz combined for a 19-19 record over the past three years at the University of Iowa, which isn?t too impressive for one of the highest paid coaches in the country. Ferentz signed a contract extension after his team won the Orange Bowl in 2009, worth $3.675 million per season through 2020, with a $325,000 increase each year he stays with the program. Iowa Football?s head coach is one of the highest paid coaches in the NCAA with that contract, but does he deserve it? No. Are Iowa fans becoming impatient with our high salaried coaches lack of success? You bet.
Not only have Ferentz?s teams not been winning, but his players are getting themselves into legal troubles year after year. The Hawkeye football program has looked like the Cinncinati Bengals of college football from time to time. Too many players have been arrested to name them all, but stars such as Derrell Johnson Koulianos, Adam Robinson, and M

Marlins being aggressive in shopping Ricky Nolasco

credit: getty images The Miami Marlins are looking to trade away players as the baseball season moves to the halfway point. One player the Marlins are looking to trade away is starting pitcher Ricky Nolasco. Curiously the Marlins opted to keep Nolasco, 30, around over the winter while the organization sent numerous players to Toronto and other destinations. Currently making$11.5 million the Marlins are ?being very aggressive? according to the New York Daily News. Nolasco currently sports a 3.68 ERA and 1.20 WHIP after 100 1/3 innings of work. Two teams who figure to have interest in the right hander are the Baltimore Orioles and New York Yankees but how much they will pay for a pitcher set to be a free agent at seasons end is unknown. At 25-50 on the season the Marlins have the worst record in baseball.
