Baddeley spurred to action by challenge from Norman.

A CHALLENGE by Presidents Cup captain Greg Norman has spurred Aaron Baddeley into a share of the lead after three rounds at the US PGA Tour Championship.

Norman told Baddeley over the phone on Monday he had to impress atEast Lake Golf Club in Atlanta if he wanted a spot on the International team to take on the United States at Royal Melbourne from November 17-20.

Baddeley, 30, responded with a blistering six-under 64 yesterday to move into a share of the lead with American Hunter Mahan at nine under par.

Fellow Australian Jason Day is tied third with South Korean K.J. Choi, two shots further back at seven under.

Despite having won the Northern Trust Open in February this year, Baddeley was thrown into a shoot-out with fellow Australian John Senden by Norman. Co AAP
