Source: Braves interested in free agent Cody Ross

The Atlanta Braves, looking to add an outfield bat, have interest in signing free-agent outfielder Cody Ross, according to a major-league source.
With Torii Hunter likely choosing between the Rangers and Tigers, the Braves are pursuing another of the top right-handed bats on the market. Ross posted an .807 OPS with 22 home runs in 130 games with the Boston Red Sox this year.
Ross has a good relationship with Atlanta manager Fredi Gonzalez, dating back to their time together with the Marlins. The Braves covet Ross? ability to hit left-handed pitching ? a 1.010 OPS this year ? particularly coming off a season in which they went just 30-31 against southpaw starters.
Ross, 31, could fit the Braves as an everyday left fielder. Martin Prado held that position this year, but he may be needed to replace the retiring Chipper Jones at third base.
Even if the Braves sign Ross, they are expected to look for a center fielder now that Michael Bourn is a free agent.
