Steelers big risk is keeping receiver Emmanuel Sanders, not letting him walk

According to Ed Bouchette of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, the Steelers would be taking a bigger gamble in keeping receiver Emmanuel Sanders.

The midnight deadline for matching the New England Patriots restricted free agent offer for Sanders is quickly approaching, but if it was up to Bouchette, he would let the clock hit twelve and keep on moving.

Sanders is a solid receiver with some upside, but matching the offer would only put off the ineveitable as he would be a free agent next year.

The team could grab the Patriots third round pick and start the process of rebuilding their receiver corps to offensive coordinator Todd Haley's liking. Bouchette writes:

'While they do have room under the salary cap to cover that $2.5 million -- they need only about $1.2 million above the $1.323 million they already are committed to him -- it would bring them within about $700,000 of their cap limit.
