Report: AC Milan reach agreement with Carlos Tevez

According to reports out of Italy, Manchester City attacker Carlos Tevez has reached a contract agreement with defending Serie A champions AC Milan, paving the way for his long-anticipated move away from Manchester. According to Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport, Milan would pay Tevez ?3 million for the remainder of the 2011-12 season, with the 27-year-old Argentine earning &euros;5 million per season over the remainder for a three-year deal. Tevez would also be eligible for performance-related bonuses.

Tevez's move to Italy is contingent on a transfer agreement between Manchester City and AC Milan. The former Manchester City captain is expected to submit a request to be loaned to Milan through June, after which the Italians would have a non-binding option to buy. That option would reportedly pay Manchester City between ?15 million and ?20 million. According to AC Milan vice president Adriano Galliani, the Italian champions were given permission by Manchester City to enter into contract negotiations with Tevez, whose representative, Kai Joorabchian, was reportedly in Milan on Tuesday. Despite being Manchester City's leading scorer over the last two seasons, Tevez has not dressed for the Barclays Premier League leaders since September 27, when he was accused by manager Roberto Mancini of refusing to enter a UEFA Champions League match at Bayern Munich. Tevez was subsequently suspended without pay for four weeks, a suspension cut in half by England's Professional Footballers' Association. In the wake of Munich, Tevez had been linked with potential moves to both Milanese clubs (AC Milan, Inter Milan), Juventus, Paris Saint-Germain as well as a return to South America with Brazilian champions Corinthians. Tevez left Corinthians in 2006 to move to England, joining West Ham United for the 2006-07 season. In the five seasons that followed, Tevez scored 69 goals in 152 Premier League appearances, including 43 goals in 65 appearances for Manchester City since joining the club from rival Manchester United in the summer of 2009. AC Milan currently sit second in the Italian Serie A, two points behind Juventus.
