Frustrated Denny Hamlin On Outside Looking In As Chase Looms

Denny Hamlin's season has been below average at best. Sunday at Michigan, it got worse.
Returning to the site of his only 2011 victory, Hamlin finished 35th after hitting the wall and going two-laps down in the Pure Michigan 400. His #11 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota made a trip to the garage two-thirds of the way through the race, and Hamlin never recovered. His attitude after the race was even more disappointing.
Hamlin said, "We have to get this ship up and pointing back in the right direction, and it's going to take a lot of hard work to do it." "This is the first time where I've struggled and we're struggling to find the balance of the car that I want."
