MMA Week Preview: Brock Lesnar, TUF, ShoMMA and Eddie Alvarez

While the UFC takes a break from two back-to-back weekend events, fans will have no shortage of MMA content to watch until Strikeforce: Diaz vs. Daley on April 9th and UFC 129 on April 29th.

This week's content will include the debut of "The Ultimate Fighter 13" featuring coaches Brock Lesnar and Junior Dos Santos and 14 welterweight fighters. The debut episode will air March 30th on Spike TV.

Among the contestants are Nordon Asrih (15-6-1), Shamar Bailey (10-3), Myles Jury (9-0) and Charlie Rader (15-4).

Other fighters include Javier Torres (2-0), Keon Caldwell (8-1) and Michael Bowman (7-2).

The biggest draw to the show will undoubtedly be former UFC Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar (5-2). There have been many questions leading up to the show that will likely be answered about the massive attraction in Lesnar.

How well will he do as a coach with so little experience in MMA? Will he be able to handle the brash personalities that will be put before him?

On the other side of the Octagon, heavyweight contender Junior Dos Santos (12-1) will be preparing for the biggest fight of his career while training hungry fighters looking for their own spot in the biggest organization in the world.

Expect many guest appearances on Santos' side. He trains at the world-renown Black House in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Among his training partners includes Anderson Silva, Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira, Lyoto Machida, Rafael Cavalcante and Jose Aldo.

Zuffa's recently purchased Strikeforce promotion will be hosting a Strikeforce Challengers event this Friday featuring a main event between Justin Wilcox (10-3) and Rodrigo Damm (9-4). It is part of a four-fight card featuring three lightweight bouts and a welterweight bout.

In the showcase fight of the week, Bellator Lightweight Champion Eddie Alvarez (21-2) will defend his title against 2010 lightweight tournament winner Pat Curran (12-3). Curran defeated Mike Ricci, Roger Huerta and Toby Imada to win the the tournament. The fight will air April 2nd on MTV2.

Alvarez is coming off of two impressive victories in a row against Roger Huerta and Josh Neer. Both former UFC veterans are known for their toughness, but Alvarez was able to finish them both under three rounds.

Also featured on the Bellator card is a welterweight semifinal tournament bout between Rick Hawn (10-0) and Lyman Good (11-1). Hawn went 4-0 in 2010 including a head-kick knockout over Shonie Carter.

Good fought once in 2010, losing a five-round unanimous decision to Bellator Welterweight Champion Ben Askren (7-0). He returned to defeat Chris Lozano on March 5th.
