The Rich Get Richer, What Kris Vertseeg Means to the Rangers

Apparently, the Flyers have infinite cap space, or at least it seems that way.

The Flyers acquired former nemesis Kris Vertseeg from the Maple Leafs for a 1st and a 3rd round draft pick. Besides the obvious implications that the team to beat in the Eastern Conference just got even stronger, the trade itself likely has some consequences as well.

Versteeg is a good all around player who is fresh off a championship with the Blackhawks. He's also signed into next year for a reasonable cap hit. But the fact that Brian Burke was able to squeeze two high level picks - most importantly the first rounder - for him adds credence to the fact that prices are steep this trade deadline. First round draft picks have been thrown around like halloween candy so far as Brian Murray was able to get his Senators a first rounder for Mike Fisher a few days earlier.
