What Do We Know About the Capitals at This Point In the Season?

While the Capitals are taking their longest break since opening night, it seemed appropriate to consider what we?ve learned about them after nearly 10% of the regular season has come and gone.� Most people who follow hockey know that Washington is the only undefeated team in the NHL, currently riding a 7-0 record. Without demeaning a perfect record, it?s fair to say that that mark doesn?t tell the whole story, however.� A couple of points that are worth considering are:

In five of Washington?s games, they faced their opponents? backup goalies.
In three of the Caps games, their opponents had played the evening before.
Five of Washington?s seven games have been played at home, and they have only had to travel as far as Pittsburgh and Philadelphia.
