Red Sox Rumors: Boston Eyeing Pirates? Garrett Jones?

With the Boston Red Sox in the market for a left-handed
option at first base and in the outfield, Tom Singer of MLB.com wonders if the
club would be interested in Pittsburgh Pirates slugger Garrett Jones.

Jones put together a solid 2012 campaign for the Pirates,
hitting .274/.317/.516 with 28 doubles, three triples and 27 home runs over 475
at-bats for the club. The 31-year-old owns a career line of .259/.321/.466 over
five seasons at the major league level.



Perhaps more importantly for the Red Sox, Jones has a career
split of .279/.348/.504 against right-handed pitchers. Boston is said to be
seeking a potential left-handed bat that can play first base and the corner
