Big Ten Hoops: Getting off the Mat

Before Monday night, this game looked like a matchup between the Illini, fresh off two romps and sporting a spotless Big Ten record, and Wisconsin ? whose only loss was to the same Illini. Then, everything went haywire. Wisconsin became very un-Badger, indeed, compulsively turning the ball over at the close of regulation at the Breslin Center, allowing Michigan State to erase a nine-point lead and steal a victory. Illinois was the latest heavyweight to walk out of College Station, PA shaking their head in disbelief, getting erased by Talor Battle?s 26 points and another active game by the Lion rebounders.
In their last meeting, these two clubs played pretty even ? with Illinois managing to keep Wisconsin at arms-length for virtually the entire game, despite shooting 21% from the floor. How? Wisconsin?s +9 in turnovers was probably the largest reason, in addition to the 10 offensive rebounds corralled by the Badgers. The game was also...
