Former Cleveland Browns all-pro return man Josh Cribbs was signed this off-season to help bolster the return game for the Oakland Raiders. However, Cribbs looks like half the man he once was as his explosiveness is completely gone. Cribbs also serves no purpose on offense and special teams besides returning kicks, so the Raiders must cut Cribbs this year.
With the rise of seventh round pick Brice Butler and undrafted free agent Chance Casey, the Raiders have no room for a washed up return man. There can be novels written on how bad the Raiders first team looked tonight against the New Orleans Saints, but their young receivers and defensive backs did look decent.
The Raiders are a team that is going through a complete rebuild this year, so they must see which young players can help them in the future. Once Jacoby Ford gets healthy, he can bring explosive speed to the return game that Cribbs no longer can.
