Of all the sports in the world, the NBA always keeps fans glued to their smartphones and computers, itching to know what’s going on in the association.

Although the NBA offseason is quickly reaching its final stages, there are a number of things going on throughout the league.

 

Josh Childress to Work Out for the New Orleans Pelicans

According to Hoopshype, via Kurt Helin of NBC Sports’ Pro Basketball Talk, free-agent swingman Josh Childress will be working out for the New Orleans Pelicans:

Throughout his seven-year career, Childress is averaging 9.2 points per game on 52 percent shooting from the field.

While he has only played a total of 48 games over the last two seasons, Childress still is a smart basketball player who knows where to be on the court and when to be there.

One thing about veterans like Childress is that they know their role and don’t try to do anything beyond their limits.

Although Childress’ abilities are not like they once were during his early years in the NBA with the Atlanta Hawks, bringing him in would add more depth to the Pelicans’ bench, as well as needed veteran leadership to the locker room.

 

Ivan Johnson Gives NBA Teams an Ultimatum

Venturing into the final days of August, Ivan Johnson is still without a team.

No doubt, being unable to reach an agreement with a team has to be frustrating, which explains why the 29-year-old has given NBA teams a two-week deadline to make a decent offer or he’s jetting overseas, per CSNNW.com’s Chris Haynes (via Kurt Helin of NBC Sports’ ProBasketballTalk):

It’s rather strange as to why no one has signed Johnson. Every team could use a player that does the dirty work, and Johnson is one of the best there is in that department.

According to 82games.com, the Atlanta Hawks limited teams to 103.1 points per 100 possessions when Johnson was on the floor, whereas when he was off the court, the team allowed 3.0 points more. 

Also, he's a big man that can run the floor and finish inside with force.

Although his averages of 6.6 points and 3.9 rebounds might not seem like valuable contributions, Johnson does the majority of his work off the ball by setting brick-like screens, diving for loose balls and denying opponents space to operate.

Certainly, teams need to wake up and make a good offer, for Johnson is definitely worthy of such.
