It's been an eventful training camp for the New York Jets. The quarterback battle is ongoing, with neither Geno Smith nor Mark Sanchez separating themselves, and the team's defense faces many question marks.
While Rex Ryan and Co. have gotten solid production from a variety of players thus far, the team has no shortage of disappointing individuals.
Dee Milliner
No one expected Dee Milliner to step up and immediately transform into Darrelle Revis, but many believed the first-round pick would be more prepared for NFL competition than he is.
Milliner has dealt with injuries all offseason, and he missed practice on Wednesday with a calf injury, per Rich Cimini of ESPN New York.
When the former Alabama star has gotten on the field, he has been exposed. Milliner was nothing short of awful against Jacksonville last Saturday. Milliner consistently allowed too much space, and he was picked on throughout the night.
Milliner was called out by fellow cornerback Antonio Cromartie and head coach Rex Ryan for his poor play, and it is becoming increasingly obvious that Milliner may not be ready for the starting role.
Quinton Coples
Quinton Coples has had a tough preseason, and it's not exactly his fault.
Coples was expected to learn a new position, outside linebacker, within a single offseason, and he showcased both good and bad in the Jets' first preseason game against the Lions.
However, Coples' adjustment period took a severe hit last Saturday. The North Carolina product suffered a hairline fracture on his right ankle. He is expected to miss the remainder of preseason and perhaps the regular-season opener.
Coples needed the next few weeks to get comfortable at his new position. Without the necessary preparation, Coples may face a serious learning curve early in the season.
Chris Ivory, Mike Goodson and Joe McKnight
With the exception of Bilal Powell, who has been excellent, the Jets' running back corps has been brutal.
As Curtis Crabtree of Pro Football Talk states, Chris Ivory didn't practice until last week due to a hamstring strain, Mike Goodson is in serious legal trouble and is yet to report to camp, and Joe McKnight has faced both legal and injury woes.
Ivory was also thoroughly unimpressive in his Jets debut, as he recorded just 13 yards on six carries against the Jaguars last Saturday.
New York's backfield was supposed to be one of the team's strengths in 2013, but the unit has provided nothing but headaches thus far.
