As the Bulls finish out what should be their first 60 win season in the post dynasty era, and what should be a legitimate shot at a championship, I feel as though it would be an appropriate time to look at the Bulls other championship opportunities in the post-dynasty era, and reflect on what could have been if the situation was tweaked just a little bit.
The Bulls best, and really only opportunity came during the 2006-2007 season. The Bulls finished the season with 49 wins and the third best record in the Eastern Conference. They managed to sweep the defending champion Miami Heat in the first round of the playoffs before being bounced in the second round of the playoffs.
This team was a flawed team, but they had a chance because of the weak Eastern Conference. While the Bulls weren?t quite on the level of the 2004 champion Detroit Pistons, who were led by Ben Wallace who put up what was probably the best defensive season ever, the point is still valid that once a team make...
