Boston Red Sox CF Jacoby Ellsbury out with foot fracture

With the Boston Red Sox playing extremely well during the month of September and riding high with a seven and a half game American League East lead, the team may have to be without leadoff hitter and centerfield Jacoby Ellsbury for the next few weeks due to a non-displacement compression fracture of right foot. Ellsbury originally injured his foot after fouling a ball a few weeks ago and reinjured that same foot in the series against the New York Yankees this past week. The Red Sox announced they expect Ellsbury to return before the end of the regular season but that is still remains to be seen. He will in a walking boot for the next five days. Until he returns, Shane Victorino has taken over center field and leadoff duties. Jackie Bradley Jr. could also get some playing time when Boston faces right handed pitching with Victorino shifting back to right field. Overall this season, Ellsbury has hit .299 8 HRs 52 RBIs in 131 games and leads in the major leagues with 52 stolen bases.
