Pedroia leaves game to be with wife in labor

Your browser does not support iframes.Nature called on Wednesday night for Boston Red Sox second basemen Dustin Pedroia. The 3-time All-Star and former AL MVP (2008) exited the game against the New York Yankees during the seventh inning after being informed by manager Bobby Valentine that his wife, Kelli, had gone into labor. The Pedroia's are expecting their second child.Aside from helping produce the greatest miracle known to mankind (birth) the 28-year old has been a lone bright spot for the disappointing Red Sox this season. He currently sports a batting average of .293 to go along with 15 homers, 60 RBI and 33 doubles. His team, however, finds itself alone in last place in the American League East Division at 64-79, and has many around Beantown clamoring for Valentine to be fired.
