NFL Honors 2012 Predictions: Jerome Simpson Flip Will Take Home Play of the Year

Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Jerome Simpson became a household name around the country on Christmas Eve when he landed a front flip over a Arizona Cardinals defender in the end zone for six points and a perfect 10.

Here's the acrobatic display in case you missed it.The spectacular score was without a doubt one of the season's best plays and will be the favorite to take home Play of the Year at the NFL Honors Saturday night (9:00 PM ET, NBC).

Although it lacked the significance of Victor Cruz's 99-yard touchdown catch or the heroics of Patrick Peterson's game-winning and ending punt return score, those who have watched it over a month ago still cannot explain it.

NFL fans voted the play the best of the best on ESPN's SportsCenter for more than a month. It took LeBron James jumping over someone to knock it off the top spot after weeks of domination.

It was simply a play that will never be seen again.

Lawrence on Twitter has high praise for Simpson's athletic, eye-popping touchdown. Lawrence makes a great point: How many times has a player landed an attempted hurdle over another player, let a lone a front flip?

Injury-prone cyclist James Hartnett believes Simpson's move was the NFL's moment of the year for 2011.James is not alone in believing Simpson's legendary flip was the moment of the year—most experts and fans agree, and that's why the jaw-dropping touchdown leap will take home Play of the Year honors on Saturday night.
