Mychal Thompson talks about son's arrest

Former Lakers guard Mychal Thompson said on ESPN Radio 710 in L.A. Friday morning that if he were the coach of the Washington State Cougars he probably would have suspended his son Klay.

Klay Thompson a junior guard at Washington State and an NBA Draft prospect was arrested Thursday night on marijuana charges.

"You’re the best player on your team," the elder Thompson said on the radio. "You’re the leading scorer on the team. They need you. Your teammates look up to you. They need you for your leadership"

Thompson leads the Pac-10 in scoring (21.4 ppg). He has been suspended for the Cougars final regular season game Saturday against UCLA. Washington State is 19-10 9-8 and squarely on the NCAA Tournament bubble.
