The NFL owners are making one last attempt to salvage their 2011 free agents after their original proposal of a new collective bargaining agreement went south. After their hope for a right-of-first-refusal policy for this year?s unique free agent class was trashed during CBA negotiations, NFL owners will be scrambling to keep their key free agents during this lockout-shortened off season. The Dallas Cowboys are a prime example of a team that may very well lose a key player to free agency now that team will have 72 hours to re-sign unrestricted free agents once the lockout ends.
NFL owners and players have announced a target date of July 21 for the end of the lockout. If they meet that deadline, they will have until July 25 to re-sign players who are now unrestricted free agents under the new CBA.
