This coming Friday, Big Show and Daniel Bryan will face off for the World Title. With Bryan going into this match as the underdog, it will be interesting to see what kind of reaction Big Show will get.
Show has bounced from being a heel to being a face so many times in WWE it is hard to pin down which one he performs best as.
Last week on SmackDown, Teddy Long set the title match for this week, and Big Show laughed in Bryan's face, congratulating him on his title reign while it lasted.
Bryan reminded Show that it would be longer than his 45-second reign at TLC, to which Show did not seem pleased. One has to wonder if this match will plant the seeds for a heel turn.
SmackDown needs heels, and Big Show can play a great heel. With Christian being out due to an injury and Mark Henry having a limited schedule, there is really no top heel talent on SmackDown.
This could be the reason we were shown Drew McIntyre returning to SmackDown. If WWE is gearing up for Elimination Chamber in two months then they will need six men for the match.
Right now they don't have six men in the World Title scene. Sin Cara is out, Orton is out, Christian is not back yet, Mysterio is still out and Henry has a pulled muscle.
This all adds up to one conclusion, Big Show needs to turn heel. He can help SmackDown's faces have some good David vs. Goliath type matches while he still pursues the World Title.
This would also help revitalize his character as he has been doing the same good guy schtick for far too long. His size alone should make him an instant heel considering everyone he faces, with the exception of Mark Henry and Ezekiel Jackson, are half his size or smaller.
Big Show has had a great career spanning both WCW and WWE, and in that time he has proven he is one of the best big men in the history of the business. What we need from him now is to prove he is one of the best heels in the business.
His heel character has always entertained me personally because he seems genuinely scary when you consider how huge he is in real life.
I am looking forward to this match because it will be a good indicator of how Bryan will be booked as champion. If Show wins, then Bryan's win at TLC was nothing more than a way to get rid of his MITB briefcase; but if Bryan wins, then we could see the beginnings of a good title run.
What do you think, should Big Show turn heel, or is he too stale?
