NFL Free Agents 2012: Dwayne Bowe and Best Available WRs

In a year when passing offenses hit new heights, receivers became seemingly less important.

The great quarterbacks are able to get the most out of lesser-known receivers and tight ends.

Just look at what Aaron Rodgers has done with Jordy Nelson or Tom Brady with Rob Gronkowski.

Still, with that being said, not every team has an elite quarterback. Plenty of squads could still use an elite receiver.

Here's a look at who tops the free-agency wide receiver list.

Dwayne Bowe

Bowe surpassed 1,000 yards for the third time in four seasons, and he's been quietly consistent for how shoddy his quarterback play has been.

Although he only tallied five touchdowns this season, he still remains a solid red-zone target and would be a solid pickup for any team.

However, I don't see the Chiefs letting their stud get away.

Destination: Kansas City Chiefs

Vincent Jackson

Jackson has notoriously been unhappy in San Diego, highlighted last year when he held out for most of the season.

But in the end, there's no doubting his skills.

He grabbed 60 catches this season for 1,106 yards and nine touchdowns and remains one of the best deep threats in the league.

I doubt Jackson sticks around in San Diego, and I like St. Louis as an eventual target. The Rams could very well get Justin Blackmon in the draft, but I bet they grab Matt Kalil instead.

Putting Jackson opposite Brandon Lloyd for quarterback Sam Bradford would be a scary combination.

Destination: St. Louis Rams

Marques Colston

It's unclear whether Colston, a former seventh-round pick, is just a product of Drew Brees at quarterback or a true talent. Fortunately for Saints fans, we'll probably never find out.

Colston has topped 1,000 yards in five of six years in the NFL, and he put together his second-highest output this year with 1,143 yards. The former Hofstra player also grabbed eight touchdowns.

I think the Saints will listen to Drew Brees, who will likely be franchise tagged, and what his free-agency preferences are. I'm sure he'll want to keep his No. 1 receiver around.
