Headed into one of the more important games in Tottenham Hotspur team history with a depleted roster, the North London side was going to have to execute a perfect game plan to hopefully steal a goal away from home against AC Milan Tuesday in the first leg of the Champions League knockout phase.
Harry Redknapp?s boys clearly understood what was expected of them at the San Siro, and came out of the gates as the stronger side; dominating the first half offensively.
As expected, Milan exited out of the locker room at half time with more purpose and intent to take the game to their English opponents. Tottenham?s defense was beginning to bend as the game wore on, but they never broke. Almost exactly has Redknapp had drawn it up, Tottenham got the game?s only goal in a jail-break counter attack and a spectacular piece of play from Aaron Lennon who beat his defender near the box to find a wide open Peter Crouch.
