US Open Golf 2011 Not Just For The Youngsters

Last year, during live telecasts CBS' Jim Nantz frequently singled out the 20-something group of golfers on Tour--Dustin Johnson, Martin Kaymar, Rory McIlroy, Louis Oosthuizen, etc--as the future of golf.

And he's right, for the next decade or so, the game seems to be in capable hands.

But that doesn't mean you can count out that older generation. Look at what Fred Couples, Tom Watson, K.J. Choi, Phil Mickelson, and Jim Furyk have achieved on the Tour in the last few years.

In a tournament like the US Open, where playing the percentages and calm under pressure is so vital, experience can be terribly important.

And although he has never won a major title, I think you'd have to look at 44-year-old Steve Stricker as the best "oldie" contender.

Stricker has been outstanding this 2011 PGA Tour season. In addition to winning two weeks ago at the Memorial, he's made every cut, hasn't finished lower than 33rd yet this year, and most importantly is second on Tour in putts per round, 1.69.

And just for good measure, he should feel pretty comfortable the first two days at Congressional: he'll be playing alongside fellow 44-year-old David Toms and 42-year-old Retief Goosen.

There will probably be a lot of Ben-Gay and Icy Hot to go around in that threesome.

AC Milan Transfer Rumours Center Around Marek Hamsik And His Future

Marek Hamsik has been linked to AC Milan, but the club hasn't seemed that interested.

However, if it were up to Silvano Martina, the Rossoneri would be making a move for the Napoli star.

Per Goal.com:

Martina is not Hamsik's agent, but he does feel the Rossoneri would be wise to invest. His comments mirror what Milan defender Gianluca Zambrotta said recently when he claimed the Slovakian international would fit into the squad well.

However, the view from Naples has been less than clear as president Aurelio De Laurentiis stated that his side was "not a supermarket" and said "Hamsik has no price as he is not for sale."

But Martina, a transfer market expert, has different ideas and speaking to Tuttomercatoweb.com, he said: "Milan like Hamsik a lot and they should do everything to sign him."

Those words contrast with AC Milan CEO Adriano Galliani who claimed Hamsik was not part of the club's plans.

It is very strange that an agent that has nothing to do with Hamsik is pushing for a club to make a move for another player, but that's another story.

However, just because a club may like a player (something Milan has denied), doesn't mean they should make a move, especially because Hamsik's club has made it clear that it is not looking to move him.

If Milan tried to make a move for him, it would take a hefty sum to land Hamsik, and that's something that a lot of clubs won't pay. Barcelona won't even pay that for Cesc Fabregas, so the Rossoneri aren't going to empty their wallets for Hamsik.

Despite this agent's comments, it looks like Milan won't make a move for Hamsik.

UFC 131 Results: Ring Rust a Factor for Jon-Olav Einemo

For former Pride fighter and grappling champion Jon-Olav Einemo, his five years away from MMA proved to be his undoing Saturday night at UFC 131.

"It was just too long away from the ring. I just froze in there. I don't know how what else to say," Einemo told the UFC Press. "I didn't do anything but wait for Dave to throw."

Dave Herman blasted away "the Viking", landing 56 total strikes, 41 of which were power strikes according to CompuStrike.com, en route to a 2nd round technical knockout win.

Einemo was able to land a few power strikes of his own as well as trying for submissions on the ground, but Herman's athleticism and striking technique were too much for the Jiu-Jitsu ace.

The Norwegian looked slow, eating a bunch of knees when shooting in as well as 26 leg strikes from Herman.

Einemo, now 6-2, says he will have to train and fight a lot more if he wants to get better.

"I have to get in there more often and gain experience," Einemo said.

On May 3rd MLSR reported that French striker Djibril Cisse was interested in coming to MLS. Now here is an excerpt from an atrticle from Greek site Sportsday> linking the goal scorer to the Seattle Sounders (mispelled in the original report):
