Celebration knocks UGA WR out for the season
Not only did Georgia lose its opener at Clemson last night, but the Bulldogs also lost one of their top receivers for the season: Malcolm Mitchell. Head coach Mark Richt has confirmed that Mitchell tore his ACL while celebrating RB Todd Gurley?s 75-yard touchdown run less than 10 minutes into last night?s game. From Mark Richt: Malcolm Mitchell has a torn ACL. He?s out for the season. ? David Cloninger (@DCTheState) September 1, 2013 This is definitely not the start the Bulldogs wanted, losing one of their top wide receivers along with the blemish on their record. In 2012, Mitchell recorded 40 receptions for 572 yards and four touchdowns. Georgia faces South Carolina in its home opener this coming Saturday at 4:30 on ESPN.
