Texans and Ravens Have the Same Odds in 2013 and Other AFC South Must-Reads

When the 2013 odds game out, the line makers didn't give the Baltimore Ravens extra credit for their miraculous 2012 run.

According to Justin Boyd of the Houston Chronicle, the Ravens and the Houston Texans actually have the same odds to win next year's Super Bowl at 14 to 1.

That's not really a surprise because heading into the 2012 playoffs, the two teams had relatively equal chances of pulling off a four-game sweep to New Orleans.

Houston pummeled Baltimore in the regular season, and if the two teams had matched up in the playoffs, Houston would likely have been favored to do so again.

The oddsmakers know that while the Ravens' title was exciting, it doesn't mean they were the best team or even that they would likely be able to do the same thing again if given the chance.

The Texans put themselves in the playoffs, and as the Ravens showed, the best team doesn't always win. Baltimore was clearly inferior to the last three teams they faced, but played well and caught some breaks with the officials to come out on top.

In a weak AFC, the Texans have a real shot to pull off the same kind of magic next year.

At least that's what Vegas thinks.
