Following being put on the shelf this past February with a partially dislocated elbow, former Nexus and Corre leader Wade Barrett is set to make his return to the WWE and regain the momentum he was carrying earlier in 2012.
While being out of action, there were rumors of the WWE planning to give Barrett a major push when he returned to the company and have him win the Money in the Bank ladder match to challenge CM Punk for the WWE Championship at SummerSlam.
Here are the details from F4WOnline (via WrestlingInc.com) on what the current plans the WWE have for Barrett when he finally returns to action after his injury:
Wade Barrett is ready to return to action and WWE officials are working on how they want to bring him back. Barrett was in line for a major push before he went down with injury several months ago and sources report that he will get that push when he returns.
No word yet if Barrett will be at Money in the Bank but the talk a few months back was that he may win the match and then challenge for the World Heavyweight Title.
Even though it would be great to see a feud between Barrett and Punk for the WWE Championship, the WWE needs to shift him to challenge Sheamus for the World Heavyweight Championship on SmackDown to help bring some more star power to the Blue Brand.
Along with bringing another big-name superstar for Friday nights, Barrett would be a much better challenger for Sheamus instead of Alberto Del Rio, who was announced to be challenging for the World Heavyweight Championship at Money in the Bank last night on Raw.
With his return to the company quickly approaching this summer, how do you think the WWE should use Barrett in regards to his reported push coming his way this year?
