Billy Baron played for his father at Rhode Island last year before deciding to transfer to Canisius
It didn?t take long for newly hired Canisius basketball head coach Jim Baron to make an impact at his new school.
On Thursday evening, CBS Sports? Jeff Goodman announced on his twitter account (@GoodmanCBS) that Baron?s son, Rhode Island star Billy Baron will follow his father to play at Canisius.
The younger Baron originally committed to play for Virginia out of high school but transferred after only half a season with the Cavaliers, deciding to pair up with his father at Rhode Island.
After Jim Baron was fired following Rhode Island?s 7-24 season this past year, Billy decided that another change of scenery was necessary.
After averaging 13 points per game as a sophomore at Rhode Island, it was rumored that big name programs such as Purdue and Providence were interested in Baron before he ultimately decided on joining the Griffs.
