Report: Negotiations for Epstein compensation turning ugly

Negotiations between the Boston Red Sox and Chicago Cubs regarding compensation for general manager Theo Epstein have reportedly hit a snag.Reports out of Chicago suggest the Red Sox aren't satisfied with what the Cubs are offering in exchange for the chance to hire Epstein as their new GM. Boston has already tabbed Ben Cherington as the team's next general manager, but still has Epstein under contract for one more year and may be considering not letting him leave the organization until his deal expires. The main problem reportedly concerns Epstein's insistence on bringing specific members of his staff with him to Chicago.Epstein has reportedly agreed to a multi-year deal with the Cubs, hoping to turn around a franchise that has gone without a World Series title for more than a century. The young executive helped build a Boston juggernaut that ended a long World Series drought in 2004, and won it all again in 2007.
