Fabio Fognini: Injury Or Gamesmanship, You Decide
Fabio Fognini and Albert Montanes were in an all-out battle in the 5th set of the French Open with a quarterfinal berth hanging in the balance, when Fognini appeared to start cramping. Because of his cramping, there was a brief delay of game during which the chair umpire came down to talk with Fognini and, according to the commentators, told him that she had called the trainer to evaluate him. After the evaluation, Fognini did receive a full medical time-out, as well as further treatment during the changeovers. Fognini ultimately won the match 4-6, 6-4, 3-6, 6-3, 11-9.
