Rangers Bruiser Boogaard Dead at 28

News broke out late Friday night that Derek Boogaard, bruiser for the New York Rangers, was found dead at age 28 in his apartment in Minneapolis. I typically stray from news that doesn?t immediately affect the Flyers, but I felt like touching on this subject.
Boogaard is the type of player that would never be a [...]

Why Securing Dalglish Was Vital To Liverpool

Although Liverpool need to fix a few positional problems with the left back and the wingers position being sometimes problematic and in some matches having a lack of dept, the most important signing for Liverpool is securing Kenny Dalglish on a new 3 year contract. So here?s why he is needed at Anfield.

He Keeps Morale Up
One of the good things that Kenny Dalglish indeed brings to Liverpool is character and good morale. Have you seen a game at Anfield recently? The energy nowadays is absolutely electric and Liverpool know that they are getting places. Not only that but the spirit has been absolutely amazing by the boys in red.
Look at the players who have stepped up to the plate, Maxi Rodriguez, Lucas Leiva and Raul Meireles have been flourishing under Kenny Dalglish, and along with that, he?s brought up some academy boys. Look at the likes of John Flanagan, Jack Robinson and especially our very own Jay Spearing. All of them have done a great job when they were given the chan...

Jason Bohannon?s little brother will walk on at Wisconsin

Zach Bohannon, younger brother of former Wisconsin guard Jason Bohannon, will join the Badgers as a walk-on after using his first two years of eligibility with the Air Force Academy.
Bohannon, who at 6-fee-8 stands six inches taller than his brother, told Madison.com’s Rob Schultz he wanted to join the Badgers to avoid the five-year service requirement for Air Force grads and play in an NCAA tournament. He plans to pursue a coaching career after graduation.
To accomodate the NCAA rules for transfers, Bohannon sat out last season after averaging just 4.3 points per game for the Falcons during an injury-plagued sophomore campaign.
Bohannon told Schultz he’s been asked to add weight to his 177-pound frame. He said he started his career with the Falcons weighing 215 pounds, but shed nearly 50 pounds after two years of Air Force training.

Ancelotti: Rooney over Messi

Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti has today claimed that if he had the choice, he would prefer to have Wayne Rooney in his team than Lionel Messi.
?Everyone goes for Messi but I would take Rooney,? he said. ?Messi is out of this world and maybe he is reaching the level of Maradona. Rooney, however, is closer to the reality of football. He puts his talent out to the rest of the team and this explains the difference between players and outstanding players.?
Looking ahead to the game on Sunday, Ancelotti told the press he wouldn?t be man marking Rooney and would have to pay attention to Ryan Giggs.
?We want to play our football, not just control their skills and ability,? he added. ?Rooney is the key player for United, and the last time against us Ryan Giggs was the best player. He passed three balls and they scored three goals.?
"Chelsea Boss: I?d Pick Rooney Over Messi" was originally published at The Republik of Mancunia.

Iowa offers scholarship to frosh

Recruiting has reached new levels of absurdity in the past few years, and with increased year-round coverage has come athletes getting offered scholarships at much younger ages. Lane Kiffin certainly is not opposed to reaching out to younger talent, and it was just last year when he offered 13-year-old QB David Sills after just taking [...]
