Did expectations get the best of Nnamdi Asomugha?
If the Philadelphia Eagles plan on competing in 2012 they will need to get their money?s worth from corner Nnamdi Asomugha. Asomugha, originally a first round pick back in 2003, was the big splash the Eagles needed during free agency signing him to a five-year, $60 million dollar contract as he left the Oakland Raiders. It was a defensive backfield that was supposed to hold up against the furious passing attack of the Green Bay Packers and Dallas Cowboys, but instead they crumbled early and often. Asomugha was brought in to lock down on the opponents? top receiver and there were a number of times that didn?t happen. Players like Victor Cruz and Larry Fitzgerald torched the Eagles secondary. Was it the expectations of being one of the top corner?s or was it a defense being run that didn?t suit the type of player he was?
