The Syracuse Orange's victory over the UConn Huskies was expected. Although the Orange did struggle at times against UConn, two key Orange runs solidified the 85-67 victory.
C.J Fair recorded a double-double with his 14 points and 11 rebounds, while the Philadelphia cousins Scoop Jardine and Dion Waiters led Syracuse in scoring with 21 and 18 respectively. Jardine came up big for the Orange with timely three-pointers to keep Syracuse out of Husky striking range.
Kris Joseph followed up his career night against Georgetown with another 15 points, as the four Orange with double figures led the way. Fab Melo struggled with fouls all afternoon and only grabbed three boards, but the Orange were still able to succeed.
The Orange's strong showing was good for many reasons, one of which being the recruitment of Nerlens Noel. Noel was sitting in on the action today not too far from Jardine's father and was constantly watching the action on the court.
Not to show favoritism, he did not clap or cheer at all for either team, although one moment had him smiling. The Syracuse "Big Head" tradition was in full force today with Bob Costas and Carmelo Anthony's heads looking on.
When one of Noel's entourage pointed to the crowd, the No. 1 overall recruit was greeted by a oversized version of himself and his downtown fade.
Way to go Syracuse fans, you may have just helped Jim Boeheim land the grand prize of 2012.
