SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- As if the 16th hole at the Waste Management Phoenix Open weren't crazy enough, Bubba Watson and Ben Crane kicked things up a notch Saturday with a rendition of their YouTube satire hit "Oh Oh Oh."
The packed gallery on the famed hole at TPC Scottsdale was already revved up for the tournament's third round, but Watson and Crane (complete with his now-signature helmet) brought the crowd to its feet when they stepped to a microphone to sing a snippet of the song recorded by the parody boy band "Golf Boys."
Watson and Crane make up half of the "Golf Boys," with Rickie Fowler and Hunter Mahan the other half. Fowler had already finished his round and Mahan was playing in the Qatar Masters. After shooting a third-round 67 to sit at 10-under, Watson said the idea was Crane's.
"We planned it a couple holes before that," Watson said. "He actually came to me in the morning when I showed up, and we talked about doing it because we didn't know we we're going to be playing together."
The pair's caddies were in on the joke, and Crane's caddie actually carried the famous helmet from the video in Crane's bag all day. Crane said the helmet created a bulge in his bag, which drew a few inquiries, but the performance remained mostly under wraps.
"We were just trying to get them fired up," Watson said before turning sarcastic. "We like to party. It was boring (on 16) and we brought it back."
Watson has also garnered attention this week for his choice of transportation. He's been driving to the course in the original "General Lee" Dodge Charger from the TV series "Dukes of Hazzard." He purchased the car at the Barrett-Jackson automobile auction in January.
The video for "Oh Oh Oh" was presented by Farmers Insurance, which pledged to donate 1,000 to charitable causes for every 100,000 views of the video. The video currently has almost 2.9 million views.
