Looking back at this past season, no one can truly look at one player as the reason Kentucky reached the Final Four this year. You have to take a look at each individual and how each player improved and made a difference for the team and their success. Two of the players that come to mind are Brandon Knight and Deandre Liggins. One being a freshman, the other a junior. One was a Calipari recruit, the other was signed by Gillispie. But each were equally important to UK.
Brandon Knight had the task of coming to UK and following the footsteps of John Wall in becoming the next elite point guard. After having a six point game against the UConn Huskies in Maui, Knight found his calling to be a leader for the Cats. He only had two other games through the rest of the year in which he had single digits; he averaged 17.4 through the season.
